Why The First Week of the Year Feels Like Window Shopping
and why I'm 'exploridating' a big move
The first week of a new year feels a lot like window shopping at the post Xmas sales. Except you arrive early to the mall and realise nothing’s open…. but also that there’s not enough time to go home and come back, so you just wander aimlessly… looking for a decent coffee, inhaling ‘potential’ and sussing out a plan of action.
This past week, while ‘window shopping’ 2024, I started multiple things …. reading two books, (Lola In The Mirror by Trent Dalton and Tom Lake by Ann Patchett )… watching Lupin on Netflix…. and thinking seriously about the actionable implications of my ‘word’ for the year…. Exploridation. (If you missed the backstory you can catch up here).
Over the last 5 years, I have explored… (as Sue Monk Kidd so beautifully calls it)
“the largeness in me, even when I fear it.”
And the truth is... I did (and still do) fear it, but I’m also energised by it. Being apprehensive and exhilarated at the same time has carved this fault line down my middle and I pray that I have the courage to harness the energy from both sides and hold space for the wonderful duality that now simmers inside me as I explore my next chapter and a newfound yearning to overlay exploration and adventure with a side serving of security and stability.
I’m starting big with the whole era of exploridation. And by big, I mean I’m planning a move.
